About Brian Clissold, a.k.a. RoadMaestro

The RoadMaestro Story

I’ve been working on bikes since I was in high school and have over 30 years of professional experience as a bicycle mechanic. Working my way up from basic service to full overhauls, I started at a bike shop in Battle Creek, MI in the 1990s. During my undergrad years I spent my summers working at a shop in Portage, MI. I worked at that shop off and on for about 8 years, keeping the part time gig going even after I graduated. Fast forward to my grad school years, and my wrenching skills helped put food on the table as I worked at a major store in Indianapolis for two years, and another store in Fort Wayne for awhile. In all cases, I worked some of the retail floor, interacted with customers, and assembled and repaired thousands of bicycles.

I don’t just fix them, I ride them.

I’ve seen just about everything at this point. I’m an avid cyclist myself, and have enjoyed BMX, road, and mountain bike racing, bicycle commuting, family rides, and bicycle touring. I do all my own upkeep on my own bikes but do everything I can to purchase parts and accessories from local businesses. Advocacy is important to me as well, and I’m currently a member of Hightstown Borough’s Complete Streets Committee, and I serve as a Trustee on the West Windsor Bicycle Pedestrian Alliance. In addition to my service work, I’m happy to offer tips on maintenance, equipment, bike safety, and anything else bike related.

My philosophy is simple: I want to get as many people on bikes as possible, and safety is the top priority.
